Early mornings -or- God is Love

I penned this about a month or so ago as the school year was finishing up.

Let me know what you think.

It is getting close to the end of the school year and things are piling up. I am continually amazed at how much i depend on God for strength and peace. One thing that I have been doing to help put me in the right state of mind to get through these long days is to read my bible first thing in the morning. I literally mean FIRST thing, the second i wake up i grab my bible and read a chapter. It has been very fruitful, it always deals with something happening or about to happen in my life. Either it puts to rest the worries that i wake up with, or it is a piece of truth that i will return to in a rough spot of the day.

One thing that God has been reteaching me lately is that God is Love.
1 John 4:15-17 says

If anyone acknowledges that Jesus

is the Son of God,

God lives in him and he in God.

And so we know and rely on the

love God has for us. God is love.

Whoever lives in love lives in God,

and God in him.

In this way, love is made complete

among us so that we will have confidence

on the day of judgment,

because in this world we are like him.”

Isn’t it so comforting to know that the God we serve is a God of Love. this also raises an interesting challange to us as followers of the incarnate diety of the trinity, Christ. We are called to live in love, this does not mean that we let the wrong in this world slide, but it does mean that we approach the brokenness of this world with love of a God who sent His son to die so that His relationship with us could be restored. So when you look at the homosexual, the theif, the liar, the cheat, the murderer or the rapist, we are called to love them as God’s creation. We are not to condone their sin but we are to love them. So when we are dealing with people and their sin, we need to do it in love, not anger or a superior spirit. This is such a hard thing, but if we are truly followers of Jesus then this is what we need to do. we are not to be shouting condemning cliches or form protest lines. God is Love.
